The opposite of these types of "pay for praise" reviews is a great site, Road Bike Review, which contains user-generated reviews of tons of products. The downside of this is that it really is the opposite of something like CyclingNews or Bicycling Magazine reviews - a disproportionate number of reviews are people who hated a product enough to go find a place to yell about it. You don't see all the people who loved the product in the first place.
My goal here is to leave enough information in a fair, unbiased review to answer most of questions about product design and quality that potential buyers have. Sometimes, this will mean linking to great reviews when I don't have time to be comprehensive enough myself. This doesn't mean the reviews will always be terribly insightful, or that you'll feel the same way, but I don't have any incentive to say good or bad things about any of these products other than that I've tried them myself.
